Pied Piper History

Pied Piper Feed Mills, Inc. has been family owned and operated in Hamlin, Texas since 1916. The family operation began when F.B. Moore, Sr., opened a small feed business in Hamlin. In 1934, he built the first small iron clad elevator. Then, in 1948, Mr. Moore, with his son Fred B. Moore, Jr., built Hamlin's first concrete elevator with additions made in 1950, 1954 and 1958. Total capacity for storage is 1,420,000 bushels.

In 1957, they built a concrete feed mill adjacent to the elevators for manufacturing livestock feeds and pet foods under the Pied Piper Feed brand. In 1978, the sons of Fred B. Moore, Jr., Robert B. Moore and Fred B. Moore III founded Pied Piper Pet & Wildlife, Inc. with the primary function being private labeling of pet foods. All the above businesses continue to successfully operate with the elevator being the main storage of ingredients for Pied Piper Pet & Wildlife, Inc. and Pied Piper Feed Mills, Inc.
